Livin' For the City

Have I ever mentioned how I'm the worst blogger ever?

Well I am. I have no consistency when it comes to this....and to be honest, I haven't cooked anything all that interesting lately. There's been a lot of recipe recycling, but I have been clipping new ones from Food Network magazines (because I'm a housewife at heart), so hopefully we'll have something new soon.

City life has been, well, city life. I've been here about six months now and I still feel like I'm settling into this place and making it look like a home. Maybe it's just something about a first apartment? Or maybe it's because there's been a leak in my ceiling since March and I'm scared it will ruin anything I put out as decorations. Have I mentioned I'll be finding a new place at the end of this lease?

Things in life have been settling down now that our two big summer events at work are over. I had a pretty big part in one of them so I spent a week at the Beverly Hilton, which was far too nice of a hotel for me. Anytime I was in my room, I was in my Beverly Hilton bathrobe. And now a bathrobe has found its way onto my Christmas list.

This week should prove to be a bit more exciting. I may be going to a show after work tomorrow (if I can find a friend to go with!) and then we'll have our LA office co-workers in town for a work retreat, and I'm actually pretty excited for it! Then, all my best friends from high school will be in the city for the weekend. I can't tell you the last time all six of us have been in the same place, so this is huge! It'll be followed up by a visit from Ryan and a Monday off to spend an extra day with him :)

My recent issue of New York magazine was centered around "cheap eats," so be prepared for some upcoming restaurant reviews. I haven't tried a new places around here really, mainly because I try to work with what I have here...and because I'm trying not to eat too horribly as I'm training for my next half marathon.

As mentioned in previous entries, I wanted to do another one, but training in the winter/spring just wasn't working because a) I have a much bigger workload b) the sun doesn't work with my schedule. So I think fall marathons are going to be my thing. Maybe one each year. This year I'll be tackling the Saratoga Palio Half Marathon, and hopefully my hill training here will help me in the hills of the course. Obviously there's a nice uphill at mile 11....oh joy....

I think that's all I've got for now. Hopefully more exciting stuff on the horizon!
